On the afternoon of September 21, the opening ceremony of the 2nd International Exchange Week of Beijing Polytechnic University (BPU) was grandly held in the Lecture Hall of the University Library. Centering on the theme “Boundless Campus, Together with You”, over 160 participants, including faculty‑student representatives from nine countries such as Singapore, Brazil, Egypt, Tunisia and Tajikistan, as well as Chinese students of BPU, gathered to kick off a week‑long series of international exchange events. Wang Wei, Deputy Party Secretary and President of BPU, and Chen Jiangfeng, Member of the Standing Committee of the University Party Committee and Vice‑President, attended the opening ceremony.
President Wang Wei delivered an opening‑ceremony address and declared the Exchange Week open. He noted that President Xi Jinping once again emphasized openness, cooperation and mutual benefit at the BRICS Leaders’ Meeting. Vocational education serves as a vital bridge for people‑to‑people exchanges and industrial cooperation. This year, BPU hosted the International Digital Application Competition of the “Chinese + Vocational Skills” Programme under the 2026 Belt‑and‑Road & BRICS Skills Development and Technological Innovation Competition, bringing young talents from diverse countries together for friendly contests. The ongoing International Exchange Week enables young people worldwide to meet, interact and bond at BPU, allowing youthful passion to spark craftsmanship. These events put into practice General Secretary Xi Jinping’s instructions on expanding opening‑up and deepening exchanges and mutual‑learning among civilizations.

Diego Henrique de Andrade Santos Cirque, Supervisor for WorldSkills and FIRST Robotics national & international competitions at SENAI (Brazilian National Service for Industrial Training), expressed his great honour and delight to witness the grand opening of BPU’s International Exchange Week. He was deeply impressed by BPU’s vibrant international atmosphere and outstanding concepts for vocational education. He hoped that Brazilian students could pursue further studies at BPU, while welcoming Chinese students to visit and study in Brazil for joint project exchanges.

During the cultural performance session, Chinese and international teachers and students took the stage one after another, presenting distinctive artistic shows. Chinese students opened with the folk‑orchestra ensemble Golden Snake Dances Wildly, whose bright and uplifting melodies instantly ignited the atmosphere. Afterwards, international student representatives performed folk dances from Russia and Tunisia. Their exotic costumes and dynamic movements immersed the audience in cultural charm from different nations. Finally, Chinese students presented Tai Chi and ribbon dragon dance. The harmony of firm and supple movements together with swirling colourful ribbons fully demonstrated the unique appeal of traditional Chinese sports culture, winning continuous applause.

Building on previous editions, this year’s International Exchange Week further expands exchange boundaries. It features academic sessions covering skills exchange, artificial‑intelligence application, industry‑university‑research collaboration, alongside multiple cultural‑experience and youth‑interaction activities. The event builds a diverse and open platform for Chinese and international teachers and students, enabling young people from various countries to broaden global horizons through mutual learning. It also injects fresh impetus for BPU to deepen international cooperation and raise its standards for internationalized education.
