On August 14, the 2025 World Humanoid Robot Games grandly opened at the National Speed Skating Oval "Ice Ribbon" in Beijing. As the world’s first comprehensive sports event with humanoid robots as the main participants, this year’s event takes "Intelligent Competition for the Future" as its theme, attracting 280 participating teams from 16 countries around the globe to compete on the same stage. Our university’s "0306 Little Giant" robots made an appearance at the opening ceremony. Dressed as Sun Wukong, Ne Zha, Space Baby, and Ancient Scholar Boy, they completed a catwalk with the lively postures of 3-4-year-old cute kids, and interacted on stage with international supermodel Hu Bing, fully showcasing their cuteness and presence.

These images were carefully created by the professional team of Fashion Design and Technology from the School of Art and Design. The Beijing embroidery craft on the Ancient Scholar Boy’s costume delicately outlines patterns of books and auspicious clouds; the book basket on the shoulder echoes the Space Baby’s backpack, jointly embodying the proactive spirit of a pure-hearted pursuer. The red and yellow color scheme for Ne Zha and Sun Wukong combines classic mythology with a sense of technology, demonstrating the collision between tradition and innovation.

Ma Shuyan, head of the major, together with full-time teachers Cheng Jingyi and Ma Ying, led the students to integrate real projects with students’ summer social practice. Through project design, craft production, embroidery and other processes, they infused cultural heritage and craftsmanship into every detail. The four images connect different time and space, resonating in "childlike innocence" and "proactivity". They not only interpret the profound meaning of "tradition and future moving forward hand in hand", but also highlight our university’s innovative strength in the integration of technology and art.
