Recently, Beijing Polytechnic University’s 2025 Summer Overseas Study Program has successfully completed all its tasks and concluded smoothly. Aimed at broadening students’ international horizons and enhancing their professional practical capabilities, this summer overseas study program saw the participation of 25 students from various schools of the university, who traveled to Malaysia and Singapore respectively for a one-week immersive study experience.
In Singapore, members of the study group conducted in-depth visits to institutions of higher learning such as the Institute of Technical Education (ITE) Singapore, paid visits to organizations including the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS), and observed a Singaporean university science and technology exhibition.

In the classrooms of ITE Singapore, the participating students joined hands with Singaporean students to experience professional courses. In the theoretical classes, the teachers’ vivid explanations and the expansion of cutting-edge knowledge brought the students brand-new insights; in the practical classes, through the operation of precision instruments and practice of technological processes, the students felt the charm of vocational education featuring "learning by doing and doing while learning", achieving in-depth integration of theory and practice.

The students also visited the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS). Through on-site visits and professional explanations, they gained an understanding of MAS – as Singapore’s central bank and core financial regulatory institution – in terms of its operation models and regulatory mechanisms in currency issuance, formulation of monetary policies, supervision of the banking and financial systems, and overall management of industries such as insurance and securities. This gave them a more intuitive and in-depth understanding of the international financial environment. At the local university science and technology exhibition, a variety of cutting-edge technology projects were dazzling. The students personally experienced innovative achievements in areas such as artificial intelligence interaction and sustainable energy application, and conducted enthusiastic exchanges with participating university students on technology research and development and academic exploration, sparking ideas and inspirations.

During the study program, Chinese and foreign students engaged in various forms of interaction. Ice-breaking games eliminated the initial awkwardness upon first meeting; physical competitions and team collaboration heated up the on-site atmosphere; and activities such as escape rooms and painting further deepened mutual understanding and trust. In addition, under the guidance of local teachers and students, the students also visited communities to gain an in-depth understanding of the unique charm of Singapore’s multicultural integration.

In Malaysia, the students gained a comprehensive experience of Malaysia’s multiculturalism that blends tradition and modernity at Melaka University.

At the opening ceremony of the study program, President Dr. Graham Kendall of Melaka University extended a warm welcome to the study group and introduced Malaysia’s national conditions to the students from multiple perspectives, including politics, economy, society, culture, and cuisine. In the academic writing and academic presentation courses taught by Dr. Shanti Nair, members of the study group learned how to search for citations, how to use data and charts to present scientific and rigorous academic papers, and how to use PPT, scientific vocalization, and body language to support presentations.

In the subsequent exchange activities, combining what they had seen and heard with what they had learned in the writing and presentation courses, the students confidently and gracefully completed the task of reporting on their study project titled "In-depth Exploration of Malaysian Culture", which was highly praised by teachers and students of Melaka University. Later, the students used original cultural and creative products – such as Tiananmen puzzle blocks, Nyonya-style "Craftsman Star" keychains, and bookmarks featuring the university’s four seasons – as a medium to interact with teachers and students of Melaka University in the form of a campus "flea market". They introduced the Beijing Central Axis and mortise-and-tenon structure to the local community, spreading Chinese culture and telling the story of Chinese vocational education through cultural and creative works and the voices of young people.

This study program has broadened the students’ international horizons, improved their professional literacy, enhanced their cultural awareness, and consolidated the cooperative relationships between the university and institutions of higher learning in Singapore and Malaysia. In the future, the university will continue to expand its international "circle of friends", launch more overseas study programs that meet students’ needs, build a platform for students to "go global", and cultivate high-skilled talents "with international vision and patriotism".
