To further implement General Secretary Xi Jinping's important initiative of "building a closer China-ASEAN Community with a Shared Future", the China-ASEAN Vocational Education International Cooperation and Talent Cultivation Exchange Conference was held at Beijing Polytechnic University and Technology (BUST) on the morning of August 21. More than 80 participants attended the conference, including representatives from organizations such as UNESCO and the China-ASEAN Center, representatives from the Beijing Municipal Education International Exchange Association, government officials and institutional representatives from 11 Southeast Asian countries, and representatives from 12 institutions in the capital. The conference was presided over by Chen Jiangfeng, Vice President of the University.
At the welcome ceremony, Huang Kan, President of the Beijing Municipal Education International Exchange Association, and Wang Wei, President of BUST, delivered speeches respectively.
In his speech, Huang Kan first thanked international organizations such as the UNESCO International Research and Training Centre for Rural Education and the China-ASEAN Center for their long-term support for vocational education in China, especially in the capital. He expressed the hope that China and foreign countries would join hands in the future to further strengthen cultural and people-to-people exchanges between China and ASEAN countries, build a bridge of friendship through skills, and continuously cultivate the younger generation to become envoys of friendship. The Beijing Municipal Education International Exchange Association will, as always, support international exchange activities and build an exchange platform for all participants.
In his speech, Wang Wei mentioned that China and ASEAN countries are good neighbors and good partners who support each other. BUST has always attached importance to exchanges with ASEAN countries, fully leveraging its advantage of being located in the Economic and Technological Development Zone, applying the achievements it has made in vocational education to international education, and has achieved a series of outcomes. He put forward four visions for the future upgrading of cooperation between BUST and vocational institutions in ASEAN countries: first, promoting the mutual recognition of vocational education standards; second, deepening international integration of industry and education; third, facilitating the exchange and mutual learning between teachers and students; and fourth, exploring digital education cooperation.
In the institution introduction session following the welcome ceremony, Chen Jiangfeng (from BUST), Li Yurong (Deputy Secretary of Beijing Fengtai District Vocational Education Center School), Dr. Lala Hucadinota Ainul Amri (from Indonesia's State Polytechnic of Madiun), and Virginia I. Berganio (Deputy Director of the Microcredentials and Industry Training Center of the Philippines) respectively introduced and exchanged information on the basic conditions, international development, and cooperation needs of their respective institutions.
In the subsequent free exchange session, Chinese and foreign participants conducted in-depth discussions on topics of interest and cooperation directions. The translation team from the School of Basic Education provided simultaneous interpretation services for the conference throughout the entire process.
This conference showcased the advantages and characteristics of education in different countries and institutions between China and ASEAN,
deepened the Connections Between Beijing Polytechnic University, other Vocational Institutions in the Capital, and Universities in ASEAN Countries, expanded the international network of partners, and provided a new platform for future international education work. In the future,Beijing Polytechnic University and Technology will join hands with universities in ASEAN countries to contribute the strength of vocational education in the capital to building a closer China-ASEAN Community with a Shared Future.
