As a new journey begins and the prime time unfolds, on August 25,Beijing Polytechnic University grandly held the Opening Ceremony for 2025 Undergraduate Freshmen and the Kick-off Ceremony of Military Training. Zhang Qihong, Secretary of the Party Committee of the University; Wang Wei, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and President; Xin Xiulan, Zhu Yunli, Chen Jiangfeng, Vice Presidents; He Jing, Secretary of the Disciplinary Inspection Commission; Yuan Fang, Member of the Standing Committee of the Party Committee; and Feng Zhixin, Assistant to the President, attended the ceremony. All 2025 undergraduate freshmen, with the status of being the first batch of undergraduates and the vigor of youth, embarked on a brand-new life journey on the beautiful campus of Beijing Polytechnic University.
The opening ceremony kicked off with a solemn flag-raising ceremony.
The university specially established the "Jingrong Academy" to create a growth community for undergraduate students that goes beyond the classroom. Zhang Qihong and Wang Wei unveiled the plaque for the academy.
University leaders kindly presented Beijing Polytechnic University badges to representatives of the 2025 freshmen and gave them books that symbolize "there is a way to the mountain of books" and carry expectations for their growth. The shining badges on the chests of all undergraduate students not only embody the true essence of the university's motto "Essence, Integration, Goodness, Innovation" but also carry forward the inheritance of the school spirit of "Seeking Truth, Innovating, Cultivating Virtue, and Valuing Skills".
Wang Wei delivered a speech titled "Solidifying the Foundation of Vocational Education Beliefs and Striving to Be New Talents for a Powerful Vocational Education Nation". On behalf of all faculty, staff, and students, he extended a warm welcome to the first batch of undergraduate students. He introduced that the university has a profound educational foundation, strong talent cultivation capabilities, and fruitful educational achievements. It has always breathed in tandem with the motherland, followed the national strategic needs closely, and taken cultivating high-quality technical and skilled talents as its core task. The university is definitely capable of providing an excellent environment for all students to study, live, and grow. He pointed out that the 2025 undergraduate students have made an extremely correct choice in choosing vocational education; they are of great significance to the improvement of the university's educational level and the development of the country's modern industries; and each student has great potential for development in vocational education. He encouraged all undergraduate freshmen to set lofty aspirations and take on great responsibilities, constantly cultivate the feelings of "strengthening the country with me", the dedication of "serving the society", and the original aspiration of "repaying the family", and engrave "responsibility" into their growth coordinates; to transform their roles and adapt quickly, learn to plan their studies independently, allocate time reasonably, and explore the professional depth proactively, turning passive learning into active research with goals and questions, and transforming "striving for grades" into "overcoming difficulties for growth", so as to make "initiative" the background color of their growth; to dare to strive and hone their skills, develop the habits of "active learning", "stepping out of the dormitory", and "persisting in exercise", always maintain the spirit of "forging ahead", the drive for "innovation", and the style of "hard work", and pave the way for growth with "pragmatic actions"; to cultivate character and strengthen cooperation, inherit the red gene, temper their will, foster patriotic feelings, and well attend the important lesson of military training, opening a new chapter of growth through "tempering". On behalf of the university, he expressed sincere expectations for the freshmen, wishing them to complete the transformation from "young students" to "young talents" as soon as possible and grow into high-level technical and skilled talents with both moral integrity and professional skills.
Xu Jiangbo, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee, presided over the ceremony. He encouraged all undergraduate freshmen to aim high and be down-to-earth, explore the unknown through diligent study and careful thinking, keep their direction steady while bravely undertaking the mission of the times, embrace the times through clear discrimination and sincere practice, and strive to grow into talents useful and needed by the country.
He Tielong from the School of Art and Design spoke on behalf of all teachers. He encouraged all undergraduate freshmen to integrate the "individual self" into the "greater self", turn "hard work" into "real skills", transform "setbacks" into "tempering", and change "the unknown" into "the future", closely combining personal ideals and pursuits with national needs, and making every effort to write a "answer sheet" for strengthening the country.
Wang Zheng, Director of University-Enterprise Cooperation at the Human Resources Center of NAURA Technology Group, spoke on behalf of the university's cooperative enterprises. He introduced the in-depth university-enterprise cooperation between the university and NAURA and their joint efforts to promote the integration of industry and education. He encouraged all undergraduate freshmen to learn basic professional knowledge well, actively participate in practice, develop the habit of lifelong learning, master skills proficiently, and contribute to rejuvenating the country through industry-education integration, serving the country through industries, and strengthening the country through equipment manufacturing.
Wang Yaping from the National Institutes for Food and Drug Control spoke on behalf of the alumni. She shared her academic experience and career development journey, encouraging all undergraduate freshmen to be proactive "pioneers", bravely "break boundaries", temper their "resilience quotient", absorb nutrients, discover their passions, hone their abilities, and gain their own wonderful university stories and infinite possibilities.
Wang Youran from the School of Aeronautical Engineering spoke on behalf of the freshmen. He shared his pride and joy in becoming a "BPUer" and expressed his expectations for future professional studies. On behalf of all freshmen, he promised that under the guidance of the university motto "Essence, Integration, Goodness, Innovation", they would root themselves in professional learning, temper excellent skills, refine true knowledge in classes, forge sharpness in practice, gather great strength in cooperation, align their personal growth with the development of the motherland, and contribute their youthful strength to the construction of a powerful technological country.
Representatives of the freshmen led all freshmen to shout the firm oath of "Building Dreams with Ingenuity, Serving the Country with Skills, Please Rest Assured, the Party! We Will Strengthen the Country!" through the poem recitation "Setting Sail with Ingenuity · Forging Ahead in the New Era".
Leaders of all secondary colleges, middle-level cadres of functional departments, teacher representatives，all counselors, and freshmen class teachers attended the ceremony.
