University Delegation Visits Algeria

 From December 20 to 24, Vice President Chen Jiangfeng led a university delegation on a visit to Algeria, Africa, to carry out vocational education cooperation and exchange visits, focusing on in-depth consultations and on-site inspections to promote the establishment of a Luban Workshop in Algeria. The visit aimed to fully implement the spirit of President Xi Jinping's keynote speech at the opening ceremony of the 2024 Beijing Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC), and actively respond to the Future Africa - Vocational Education Cooperation Plan and the initiative to build Luban Workshops.

 The delegation's first stop was the Bergaoud Technical and Vocational Institute, where they held pragmatic and efficient working talks with officials from the Ministry of Vocational Training and Education of Algeria, the Director of the Oran Education Office, and the management and teaching team of the Bergaoud Technical and Vocational Institute. The two sides held comprehensive and detailed discussions on the proposed co-built Luban Workshop, covering key aspects such as the specific construction plan, major offerings, equipment configuration standards, and the project's funding requirements and usage plans. Representatives from both universities jointly signed a cooperation framework agreement, marking a substantive step forward in their cooperation.

 After the talks, the delegation conducted an on-site inspection of the institute's training venues and facilities, laying a solid foundation for the subsequent construction of the workshop.

 To further promote the early approval and implementation of the project, at the invitation of Nasima Al-Haboub, Minister of Vocational Training and Education of Algeria, Chen Jiangfeng and his delegation held talks at the Ministry. Chen Jiangfeng briefed the Minister on the outcomes of the discussions with the Bergaoud Technical and Vocational Institute. Nasima Al-Haboub warmly welcomed the delegation and expressed strong support for the Luban Workshop project. She stated that the project fully aligns with the country's development strategy, and the Ministry will provide comprehensive policy coordination and facilities for the establishment and construction of the workshop. She expressed hope that it will become a model for China-Algeria vocational education cooperation and cultivate more practical talents to meet industrial needs.

 The delegation also visited the Embassy of the People's Republic of China in Algeria and held a special exchange with Ambassador Dong Guangli on the construction of the Luban Workshop. Chen Jiangfeng introduced the overall situation of the visit, the progress of communication with Algerian universities and education authorities, and discussed relevant matters that may be involved in the advancement of the Luban Workshop. Ambassador Dong Guangli fully affirmed Beijing Polytechnic University's initiative to serve the overall situation of China-Africa cooperation and actively promote the construction of the Luban Workshop. Ambassador Dong stated that the Embassy in Algeria will provide support and assistance for the university's cooperation in Algeria, and expressed hope that the university will carefully plan and steadily implement the project to ensure its high-quality launch, making it a shining showcase of China's vocational education standards and a promoter of friendship between the two countries.

 This visit to Algeria by the university delegation is a practical measure to implement the national Belt and Road Initiative and important consensus of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation. The visit has significantly advanced the specific planning and implementation process of the Luban Workshop in Algeria. Through multi-level and all-round communication, it has won the trust and key support of Algerian partners for the smooth implementation of the project. In the future, through the platform of the Luban Workshop, Beijing Polytechnic University will systematically export the concepts and resources of China's vocational education, build a bridge for people-to-people and cultural exchanges between China and Algeria, and contribute to the building of a closer China-Africa community with a shared future in the field of education.
